The Demolition (1980–2026)

To rebuild, you must first honestly assess the damage. ZANU-PF’s 46 years have not been bad governance. They have been deliberate demolition — the systematic destruction of every institution that could hold them to account.

They demolished the breadbasket of Africa and left a nation that cannot feed itself. They demolished an independent judiciary. They bombed the Daily News and captured the ZBC. They demolished the electoral process so thoroughly that in 2023, ZEC simply declared ZANU-PF the winner — without counting the votes.

And most devastatingly of all: they demolished trust. The social contract between a state and its people.

🌾
The Economy
From Africa’s breadbasket to 89.7 sextillion percent hyperinflation. The second-worst monetary collapse in recorded human history.
📜
The Constitution
The 2013 Constitution — hard-won through international pressure — is under direct assault. CAB3 seeks to remove term limits and allow Mnangagwa to rule until death.
🗳
The Elections
ZEC declared a winner in 2023 without credible counting. 6.8 million diaspora Zimbabweans — more than the domestic vote — denied a ballot entirely.
The Judiciary
Courts packed with ZANU-PF-aligned justices. Tendai Biti — former Finance Minister — abducted and prosecuted for opposing CAB3 in March 2026.
🕯
Gukurahundi
The Fifth Brigade massacred 20,000–80,000 Ndebele civilians (1983–87). Mnangagwa was State Security Minister. No accountability. No justice. No recognition.
🗞
The Free Press
The Daily News bombed. ZBC captured. Independent journalism criminalised. The diaspora’s digital platforms are now Zimbabwe’s only free press.

The Reconstruction Plan

The Zimbabwean diaspora has not merely been waiting. It has been building. The construction plan is not theoretical — it exists today, across six democratic platforms, with the foundations already poured.

The constitution is drafted. The membership register is open. The documentation is published. The legal frameworks are filed. The networks are established. The architects are assembled and ready.

“When a building is demolished, the demolition crew leaves rubble. The architects arrive after. ZANU-PF produced the rubble. The diaspora has been training as architects for 46 years.”
Zimbassy — Rebuilding Democratic Zimbabwe, 2026

Why Now. Why Us. Why This.

The UK Government is doing lithium deals with a regime that committed genocide. The international community is looking the other way. ZANU-PF is advancing CAB3 to make Mnangagwa president for life. And former Finance Minister Tendai Biti is in court for daring to say no.

This is the moment. Not because the conditions are ideal. Because they are exactly as bad as we always said they were — and the world is finally paying attention.

The Zimbabwean diaspora has the expertise, the numbers, the documentation, and the moral authority to lead Zimbabwe’s reconstruction. We need recognition, not rescue. We need the space to do what we have been preparing, for decades, to do.
