The Founding Charter is ready. Here’s what’s in it — eight Articles covering the ground your membership needs to discuss:
Article 1 — Name and Status (the ZDE-UK, operating under ZHRO)
Article 2 — Purpose across three pillars: serving the diaspora community; advancing democracy and human rights; and preserving Zimbabwean heritage
Article 3 — The Diaspora Vote, framed as a constitutional injustice and the primary political campaign — including a founding diaspora electoral register
Article 4 — Membership, explicitly excluding ZANU-PF affiliates, with a 1,000 founding members target
Article 5 — Governance, with an elected Council including reserved seats for women, youth, regional communities and the Ndebele-speaking community
Article 6 — The Physical Embassy, with Blue Horizon as the acquisition vehicle and the NLHF route embedded
Article 7 — Seven core values (Democracy, Human Rights, Unity, Accountability, Non-violence, Heritage, Solidarity)
Article 8 — Adoption process, with this draft explicitly framed as open for membership consultation — and the adoption date becoming Zimbabwe Diaspora Day
